I already told you last week that I want to talk about age today and more specifically about the fact that age is not a number.
Sometimes I have conversations with people who are younger than I am who start talking about how “they are getting so old” or how they “feel so old” or “Man, I am turning 27, I am so old”. Every time I am part of such a conversation, I am not only startled and a little bit shocked but every time it happens, I say something and start a conversation.
Age is not a number
Age is not a bad thing. You decide about being “old” whatever that means with your words and your actions.
Somehow, society tells us what you need to have achieved by a certain time and age and now we have kids having a quarter life crises because of that disappointment. Here is the thing though. Life is a journey. We make decisions every day, which affect us and the people around us, and those decisions affect our aging process. Not everything needs to happen by a certain age or time. If that were the case, I would be a drepressed wreck because my plan was definitely different and I not only had to learn how to be single in my 20s but also in my 30s.
You know what?
You are not too old and it is not too late!
I feel like somebody needs to hear that today. The best days are still ahead of you. Your age is beautiful. Your maturity is beautiful. You are wise and gifted and have much to give.
Age is not something to be fixed by outward things although nothing against it. I mean I also fix up my own crèmes. Aging is something beautiful. It tells our journey of growing older, more beautiful, wiser and more mature and we can stay young in the meantime.

How to stay young
Keep dreaming
I believe the minute we stop dreaming we start aging. Never ever stop dreaming and believing that great things are still ahead that there are people to influence and a world to change
Keep trying new things
When was the last time you did something for the first time? I recently had a conversation with a good friend who picked up playing the cello in her late 20s and started aerial acrobatics too. She impressed me so much by that because she is not scared to try new things. I remember last year when I bought my first DSLR camera. For some reason I had always believed that I was not ready or worthy (I know I know) to be taking pictures with a DSLR. However, when I started I absolutely loved it.
Surround yourself with friends of all ages
I have friends who are ten and more years younger than I am and I have friends who are ten and more years older than I am and I love it. We all learn from each other and it is so refreshing to hear other people’s perspectives and things they went through or the way they view the world.
Maybe my hole “age is not a number” thing all seems too simple for you but I do not want to complicate something, which is part of life. Something that will happen to all of us. We are the ones who determine how we feel about it. You have a choice.
Much love
Ramona
